This is my second year on the State Executive Board as your Secretary and Outreach to Teach Coordinator (although this will be changing…keep an eye out!). Professional Development Coordinator: Sergei Raspel
School: UW- Eau Claire
Major/Minor: Elementary Education Major with a General Science Teaching and Music (Applied Voice) Minors
Blurb: Hi my name is Sergei Raspel and I am a fourth year at UW- Eau Claire. I always say that I will sing about science to my students. I am proficient in voice, guitar, piano, and ukulele. I find music to be an excellent venue for teaching science. I have dual citizenship in Russia and America, I was adopted when I was a kid. This will be my second term serving as the PIC Coordinator and I am so very excited! I believe we had a fantastic PIC conference and have set the bar high. I just hope that this year will meet the expectations. I have a year and a half left in school and then want to look around the Eau Claire area for teaching middle school science. I also tutor in Science at Memorial High School. I have been a wrestling coach for the past 3 years at Osseo, Memorial High School, and South Middle School. As for other hobbies I enjoy the outdoors and do a lot of gardening, canning, hunting, fishing, landscaping, and of course music. I love the outdoors and I love all the Science lessons that science has to teach us. I enjoy my two tuxedo cats named Dexter and Boots. I look forward to working with everyone at a local and state level. Ever since I have been in Aspiring Educators I felt my abilities have increased as a more politically aware teacher. I stress the value of understanding how politics influences education and what we as future teachers can do to ensure our quality of life is not oppressed. I look forward to this year and know its gonna be absolutely amazing. There will be challenges but there will also be great joy which is ultimately the extent of life.
